SEN Teacher Surbiton, Greater London
Salary: Outer London Teachers' Pay Scale (MPS/UPS) + SEN Allowance (where applicable)
Start Date: ASAP / January 2027
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive specialist provision in Surbiton. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about enabling children and young people with complex needs to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, personalised learning experiences that support pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs, helping them develop academically, socially, emotionally, and independently.
The Pupils You Will SupportYou will work with students presenting a range of additional needs, including:
- Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Physical and Sensory Impairments
- Mental Health and Emotional Difficulties
- Communication and Behavioural Difficulties
- Social and Communication Disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
- Specific Medical Needs
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Develop and implement Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents, and external professionals.
- Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, independence, and life skills development.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of attainment and wellbeing.
- Contribute positively to the wider school community and safeguarding culture.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a mainstream or specialist setting.
- Strong understanding of adaptive teaching strategies and inclusive practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with complex needs.
- Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex learning difficulties, or physical needs would be advantageous.
- Competitive salary in line with the Outer London Teachers' Pay Scale.
